What is Pilates?
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the last century, with an aim of enabling the body and mind to work as efficiently as possible. Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise which addresses the needs of the whole body. Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the body, with a focus on the deep, supporting muscles. There is an emphasis on working in a controlled and careful way, releasing areas of tightness and strengthening weaker muscles to bring the body into balance.
